Rhythmic Structures

SGC International Printmaking Conference Academy of Art University, San Francisco March 2014

For the 2014 SGC International conference held in San Francisco, I presented the project, “Rhythmic Structures” where I invited conference participants to screen print patterns onto discs with conductive ink. The printed imagery modulated electric current depending on visual characteristics of the mark (e.g., size, shape, opacity). As the imagery was read by a conductive pickup, printed shapes and lines activated a variety of kinetic, sound-making devices, with each assembly becoming part of an ever-changing, collaborative sound ensemble.
